The PlyWood Trail may have the opportunity to benefit from Destination Iowa funds if a regional application is given the green light.

The Le Mars City Council on Tuesday heard more regarding Destination Iowa funds available for community projects. Funding of $40 million will be available for outdoor recreation and tourism attraction projects.

Sioux City is preparing an application for a Siouxland Regional Trail Connection Project.

The scope of their application will include the PlyWood Trail, with Sioux City being the primary applicant and Sergeant Bluff and Le Mars as co-applicants.

Sergeant Bluff and Le Mars are being asked to submit “Letters of Support” with the application.
