The bike racks outside Ames' City Hall were full Tuesday evening, councilmember Gloria Betcher observed, as city council hosted a workshop on bike infrastructure, where cyclingadvocates from aroundthe area commended the progress made by the city over the last two decades but said the systemstill falls short of complete connectivity.
"I think there is a perception among some that the bike trails are solely a recreational amenityand it's simply not true," council member Tim Gartin said. "We need to see our community from a lensfor whom bicycling is their major form of transportation."
