When the COVID-19 epidemic struck last year, Pulpit Rock Campground soared in popularity with campers who saw it as a place to get away without having to worry as much about the coronavirus. Reservations at the campground soared.
But last year could easily be surpassed by this year at the campground, according to Decorah Parks and Recreation staffers. Early registration for campground space was conducted March 1st, 8th and 15th, and it took two days each time for Park-Rec employees to call back all the campers who left phone messages about reservations. There were hundreds of calls, according to Decorah Park-Rec Director Andy Nimrod. While spaces still remain at the campground, most weekends are either full or with very limited availability already.
The City of Decorah has been a BIKEIOWA sponsor since August 2019. It doesn't surprise us that folks want to visit the city and the campgrounds are always full. Decorah is in our Top 5 Iowa staycations! Read more about visiting Decorah, the trails, bike shops and breweries.
