Indianola was recently listed as an Iowa Great Place by the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs, which will allow the city to apply for grant funds as part of the program. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News the committee will target several areas of improvement for the city.

“What was presented to the council was to help fund the square streetscape project, to extend the square streetscape project from the square to the Simpson College Campus, and to add to the extension of the McVay Trail from 15th St. to the Balloon Field creating a cultural trail.”

Waller also said he appreciates the hard work of the Indianola Hometown Pride Committee for taking the lead on the application.
